Maki

Maki is another common type of sushi, and is basically a roll of sushi, seaweed, and different types of fillings. Hosomaki is the thinnest type of maki sushi and usually contains one filling. Typical fillings are cucumber, avacado, tuna, and salmon. One order usually contains six pieces of the same filling.

Futomaki is a thicker type of maki that contains multiple fillings. This type of maki is usually filled with a combination of cucumber, avacado, raw fish, eel, pickled radish, fried egg, tempura shrimp, tempura soft shell crab, and carrots. Tempura means that something is battered and then deep fried. An order of futomaki either comes with three or four pieces of sushi.
